I’m in Louisville, KY for the holidays after almost two months traveling around Argentina.
I’m excited to share photos of the trip with my family. Specifically, the photos I shot of sea lions at the port of Mar del Plata.
My camera is in the other room, so I pop my SD card with all of my trip photos into my mom’s camera, thinking it should be fine since we both own the same model.
The camera asks me something and before reading it I select OK. The next thing I know all of my photos are gone. GONE! I’m such an idiot…
I panic. I’m having trouble breathing. Then someone mentions a camera store nearby that can recover the photos. I’m cautiously optimistic.
Days later, I get a disc back with all of the photos except for fifty or so, which they can’t recover. I try picturing all of the missing photos, and I can see some of them clearly, but this is only a temporary fix. The missing photos are gone.
I decide to focus on the good news: The sea lion photos are safe.
